If, this month, you go out to buy eye shadow, mascara, or eyeliner, it’s worth noting that a portion of proceeds from the sales of the Eye Wonder collection (by Revlon) will go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to reflect that in any given year, over 20,000 Canadian women are diagnosed with this life threatening disease.
On Sunday, September 30, individuals and corporate teams alike joined forces for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure fundraising event.
Over 170,000 Canadians in 50 communities participated from coast to coast. Last year, the Run raised $26 million for breast cancer research, education and awareness programs.
Here are some eye-openers, the latest Canadian Breast Cancer statistics*:
• Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women.
• In 2007, an estimated 22,300 women will be diagnosed with this disease and 5,300 will die of it.
• 1 out of 9 women is expected to develop the disease during her lifetime. One in 27 will die of it.
• An estimated 170 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and 50 will die of it.
• Breast cancer mortality rates have declined 25% in the last 20 years.“Women have given us so much over the years,” says Garry Scott, marketing director at Revlon, “and we’re proud to be able to give something back.”
Being money-less makes me sad. Well not really, I just need to stop spending because of those freaking tires I have to get before winter and all that other stuff we have to save for. It’s either I crash and die on the road when it starts snowing this winter or a new pair of jeans. And you know how all of us Vancouverites drive in the snow. If I don’t kill myself, perhaps someone else will. Hmm. What would you choose? I honestly don’t know. I’m just kidding.
Yes another long weekend in a row. What are we going to do since our plans have been scraped? Spend time with the kids!
We will probably be out in Maple Ridge so I should get my nails filed down as well because long manicured nails and text messaging are mortal enemies. It’s ironic because the stupid LG Shine sides with the fake nails as it has a totally sucky keyboard. Can you believe it? I actually dread texting right now and this is coming from someone who can practically text with her eyes closed. Seriously. I don’t know if I should even be mentioning this on a public blog because that means I have no life since I even remembered most the order of my T9 dictionary. This is what happens when you have free text messaging to your boyfriend, best friend and family for the last 5 years. I’m still on the original Fido-to-Fido plan and only pay half-price. Hehehe.
This statue of a dead Prince Harry is maybe a little too much don’t you think? Normally I don’t mind freedom of expression but if someone made a statue of me dead I would be pretty freaked out. Plus those anti-Royalists will probably start worshiping this morbid statue. Disrespectful. Poor Harry.
I think it’s about time I reread the final Harry Potter book again because I forgot what most of it was about already.

That is so Chinese it’s not even funny.
If you’ve been experiencing weirdness with my site within the last hour or so, please excuse me as I struggle to get a new layout up. People keep on coming by so I have to keep switching back to my original theme because the new one is still pretty much a disaster. That’s all I have to say right now so I shall post more later. Meanwhile, you can watch these videos:

EDIT – Yes I know there is something funky going on with this site and the evil Internet Explorer. I’ll fix that later but you should be using Firefox or Safari anyway. Who the heck still uses IE?!
EDIT – Sidebar, which is the empty space on your right, is still missing. Will do that tomorrow evening if I have time. And there is some nasty horizontal scrolling to get rid of too.
EDIT – Switched back because something was wrong with comment form. Will fix tomorrow. It seems like you can only comment on the most recent entry. That’s okay, less spam.
