Epic Life Quotes

These are a selection of quotes from bloggers you may know…

  • “The Power of Entrepreneurship isn’t in how many companies you start, or how much profit you bring in. It’s strength lies in how much value you provide your customers.” – Gianpaolo Pietri
  • We live in a culture that  is largely driven by expectations. We’re expected to go to school, get a job, make a living, and make the best of it. As an entrepreneur you know deep down that’s no way to live. If you live for the weekends you’re only living for 2/7 of your life.  The way I see it is this. If your life is a book or a movie, at the end of it you want it to be the kind of thing that is worthy of an Oscar or a Pullitzer. You want it to be full of magic and memories that leave permanent imprints on your mind and when it’ all done you know that you looked forward to everyday. To me, the adventure and the excitement is just beginning…. Srinivas Rao
  • “Those who strive for success will rise with success” Rob Rammuny
  • “Don’t limit yourself by telling others what you’re not; tell them what you are.” Colin Wright
  • “Perseverance is everything. Never giving up will give you the ability to go through anything in your way and accomplish everything that you wish.”

100 Things to Watch in 2010

Things on the list that caught my eye:

Wonder Girls

99. The Wonder Girls – Being a huge K-Pop fan, I tripped when I saw the Wonder Girls on the list. If I were 12 years old, I’d be totally all over those girls… although, I only have room for Korean boyband-teenybopper’ing at my ripe age of 22 right now.

74. Recycling Gray Water – Water is probably going to cost more than gas in the future.

65. Obesogens“chemical compounds in the environment—notably from plastics—that can turn developing cells into fat cells. These stay with a child for life, making weight loss difficult.” Doesn’t that just scare you? We’re creating such a harmful and dangerous world for our children.

Lost

55. Lost Series Finale – Reminds me that I’ve gotta start a countdown until the season ends so I can officially begin my couch-potatoe-ing. Yay!

6. Augmented Reality – “…the superimposing of digital information over physical reality, will make its way into the hands of mass audiences. AR smartphone apps can show where subway entrances are located, reveal prices of nearby homes or label landmarks for tourists. Marketers are getting in on the act, including GE and HP, whose AR game Roku’s Reward has players chase virtual images layered over reality on a phone’s screen.”

5. Asia’s Widening Income Gap – This just makes me sad. Forgot what we were talking about this morning, but boyfriend said: “Guess what makes them rich?! The poor people!!” So true.

Sony, for instance, predicts that 3D sets will compose 30 to 50 percent of all the TVs it sells in its 2012 fiscal year. [source]

1. 3D at Home – Boyfriend and I were talking about this earlier this year and how cool would that be? They’re going to be super expensive when they first come out but prices will probably drop like crazy after the 5 or so years when they start producing something cooler like TV that emits smells… WHEN YOU WANT IT TO (Food Channel.. mmmm).

The Truth: Marie Antoinette’s Reputation

This is a an excerpt of a great entry about Marie Antoinette’s reputation from one of my favorite blogs, Tea at the Trianon:

She is the queen who danced while the people starved; who spent extravagantly on clothes and jewels without a thought for her subjects’ plight. Such is the distorted but widespread view of Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France (1755-1793), wife of King Louis XVI. The recent Coppola film has further damaged the image of the much-maligned, beautiful and charming Austrian archduchess, sent to France at age fourteen to marry the fifteen-year-old Dauphin. Sadly, the picture many people now have of Marie-Antoinette is of her running through Versailles with a glass of champagne in her hand, eating bonbons all day long, and rolling in the bushes with a lover…
