Fitness Is A Lifestyle: Randoms

Fitness

  • Don’t keep treats at home. When you really want it, go out for one.
  • Part of fitness is knowing when to rest to prevent injury.

Strong showy muscles come from lifting the crap out of heavy things. Leanness comes from a consistent calorie deficit. Definition comes from lifting heavy things, plus a deficit, plus plenty of leafy, watery potassium rich whole foods…

  • Your body needs a break too especially if you feel over-worked. It’s okay to take long breaks once in a while and by long breaks I mean even 2-3 weeks without working out. I was working out 5-6 times a week for a year and then I took an entire month off when I was on vacation, pigged out like crazy and ended up 5lbs lighter when I got home. I did lose some lean muscle and strength but it just gave me more motivation to get back into shape when I got home; the first workout back was TORTURE and I almost cried because I couldn’t keep up the intensity like I use to but it all goes uphill with consistency. I’m not recommending taking an entire month off, just 2-3 weeks at most BUT you should still be eating clean during that time if you want to stay lean and strong (unlike what I did when I went on vacation).
  • People who exercised during their workday were 23 percent more productive on those days than they were when they didn’t exercise.

(Recent study from the International Journal of Workplace Health Management)

There’s only 3 things you need to know to get fit:

    1. Eat real food.
    2. Train outside of your comfort zone.
    3. Recover.

I always enjoy your fitness posts. It’s always a motivator and filled with the facts.

I’m not one of the 23% though. I went running on my break yesterday, and the run and the sun took a lot out of me, my eye lids were dropping an hour later. =/ Which reminds me that part of being fit, is also getting enough sleep. (Something I need to work on)

I agree, sleep is very important! I read that sleep will help prevent hunger pangs too, something about keeping your body at an optimum in all ways.
