HI THERE, IS THERE SOMETHING SPECIFIC YOU'D LIKE TO READ?

Shiratake Noodles

SHIRTAKE NOODLES ARE A DIETER’S DREAM!
ZERO calorie and ZERO carbohydrates!

How are they low carb?
They’re made from water and glucomannan (a water-soluble dietary fiber),

Shiratake Noodles

Benefits:

  • 0 calories, 0 carbs
  • Control blood sugar + cholesterol
  • Makes you FULL
  • Aids in weight-loss

You prepare it by rinsing them under hot water and it’s ready to eat! They’re thin, translucent and has no flavor of it’s own but it soaks up the flavors from the broth or sauces that it’s in. I like to throw mine into a broth at the last minute and it’s delicious! Some might not be use to the jelly-like texture but I don’t mind it since it reminds me of bean thread noodles that I eat a lot of (just thicker). There are tons of recipes for them online.

Negative Effects:

  • Over-eating, getting too full and not eating other nutritious foods
  • Constipation (from all the fibre if you eat too much)

These have been around for soo long but I can’t believe I just discovered them recently. You can find them in any Asian supermarket and there are different brands and ones made with tofu for added protein. I get mine for about $1.99 per bag.

Jelly like texture? Like long rice? I’m intrigued, I’m going to look for a bag during my next grocery shopping trip.

Have you ever had those Asian sweet jelly dessert cups?
