Things I Didn’t Learn Until Embarrassingly Late In Life
- That we’ve never been to Mars… or any other planet. As I kid, I use to indulge in astrology books (the one with lots of pictures) because I was obsessed with the universe. There were lots of “theory” books about missions to other planets and I always thought they were real… you wouldn’t be able to imagine my disappointment when I learned that we’ve never done it. Any of it. :@ The moon doesn’t count because it’s lame.
Age learned: 12 - The location of Korea. I always thought it was down there near Vietnam/Cambodia but I was shocked to see that it was a TINY ass country inbetween China and Japan. How can so many perfect-looking guys come out of this tiny speck on the map? Not fair.
Age learned: 15 - The sort columns in iTunes. The sort columns are the best things ever because it makes iTunes a breeze to use. I feel like a major asshole for hating on iTunes back when I didn’t know how to use it properly.
Age learned: 20 - How to spell “anonymous.” I never knew (or cared) how to spell it until I started using it a lot especially when I blog. To tell you the truth, I haven’t memorized the spelling despite looking it up 97549675643x times.
Age learned: Never…

it took me awhile to learn how to spell surprise… wow i feel silly hahah

I didn’t know you could add columns in itunes until 2 weeks ago. haha
agreed with the last point. =)

HAHAHA awesome. I need to admit something embarrassing here : I didn’t know how to use chopstix properly until probably 3 years ago. I used to use fork to eat noodles, seriously. Even now I’m never that good at eating sushi with chopstix, especially a big one.
the rice somehow will fall out a bit.

I also didn’t know how to spell annnonymmows right, but now I know, it’s easy: annnonymmows
Kidding. I learned about Korea pretty fast, because I like the country a lot and plan to visit. And for you, there may be many hot guys, for me I wonder how come there’s so many hot girls from there

I think technology is ruining it for me because instead of even trying to memorize the spelling, I just purposely spell is wrong, copy+paste it into Google and it will show me the correct spelling. Then I just copy+paste that back into my blog post. Lazy.

lol, but the korean guys have probably had plastic surgery! as well as the girls. same thing applies over here.
but wow! i never knew that about mars either.
oh well ur not the only one!

We all end up learning random things later in life, I think. In middle school I learned that Pearl Harbor is NOT in my town…but in Hawaii. We have a Pearl Harbor memorial bridge and I always assumed that WWII happened right here in my backyard. Hmm…my history teacher was not happy with me, haha.

i have a lot of these i didn’t learn this until.. kind of moments. i remember always feeling the urge to ask but never did because i felt that i would be embarrassed myself. however, i just looked at it as it’s not my fault i didn’t know any sooner, lol.

hahaha! i love this post and it just reminded me of one thing i was naive about until later in life. Seriously, all through out my tween years…. i thought Chinese people don’t have sex. hahahahah! i dont know why.. i just did. But uhmmm hello, china is one of the largest populations out there! hahaha! silly me. i want to do a blogpost about it but i’m a bit embarassed. hehe

Omg Kym, how did you think Chinese babies made?
REPLY
hmmm
I didn’t know that it took sex to make babies until I was 11 and apparently, everybody else in my class knew. I didn’t think people had sex because
1. Jesus’ mom was a virgin.
2. I loved reading the Little House series and I was like “they never had sex in the book!”

Christine’s story is too funny! And to Leslie: My husband looks awfully perfect (he was born in Korea), and has had no plastic surgery! I like him with facial hair though, so he doesn’t really look boyband pretty… but he could!

The only thing I can remember is that I didn’t know where Washington was! And then I found out that there are two Washingtons! (I found out from hints on American TV shows.)

That reminds me.. When I little, I use to think Washington and Washington D.C. were tame thing so I thought the state capital was right across the border from us (in Vancouver). LOL.

LMAO @ The moon doesn’t count because it’s lame. That’s funny, but true.
I still have yet to even attempt using iTunes. I only use it when I’m updating my iPod touch unfortunately. I have this little MP3 player on my computer created by a regular guy. I use that, it’s pretty neat.

hahahha… age learned NEVER!
and you’re right, it’s not fair that china is gigantic and has almost NO good looking people, compared to tiny korea, where they all look like models! but then again, korea is famous for plastic surgery…

HAHAHA. I’ve never thought about it that way, but good observation! There must be something in the air there. Must go to Korea and find out!

Bah, spelling is overrated anyway. And I can’t spell anonymous either — that’s what spell checker is for

your comment about korea reminds me of this guy i knew… he watched so much k-drama and listened to so much k-pop that his ultimate goal was to one day live in korean among the beautiful korean women
and when he went, on the streets, he was all, “WHERE ARE THE BEAUTIFUL KOREAN WOMEN???” i suppose it’s only the select few that get on the shows, so the audience assumes people to just all be beautiful in korea haha
so far i’ve never seen any seriously hot korean guys in vancouver.. not in coquitlam (k-town!) or from the exchange students at ubc. sadface

It’s all good girl, “necessary” ALWAYS gets me. For real, I had to look it up just now, It’s the “c” and “s” that gets me hahaha.
