Blog Love: Health & Fitness

Health, Link Love

It’s January which means everyone is being packed into the gym like sardines. If you’re just getting started (or just want more ideas and inspiration), here are some of my favorite health and fitness related blogs.

BodyRock.tv
Body Rock – This is my favorite site for work out videos (why spend hundreds of dollars on DVDs?). Zuzana’s work out videos are KILLER, short, effective and leaves me crippled the next day which I love. She’s also proof that you don’t need to go to a gym to get a fit and lean body.

Fitness Spotlight
Fitness Spotlight -This is just an overall awesome blog full of tips, facts and challenges. I spent like 5+ hours going through their archives when I first stumbled on it.

Cranky Fitness
Cranky Fitness – Another one of my absolute favorites and is written by women. I love fitness blogs written by women because it’s easier to relate to and less entries on how to get big and bulky muscles. :P

James Kerrison
James Kerrison – Not updated as often as I like but the articles published are absolute gems.

Mark's Daily Apple
Mark’s Daily Apple – Has very informative articles that are obviously very throughly researched, with lots of statistics and facts. If you really want to get educated, hit up this blog!

Fit Bottom Girls
Fit Bottom Girls – Fun and lighthearted fitness blog for women (and men) written by women. Has a too many seemingly sponsored posts for my liking but the rest of the articles are worth the read.

What are your favorites health/fitness blogs?

Thanks for all the links, very helpful time too, when everyone’s still on the resolutions’ bandwagon lol. I was thinking about starting the P90x but I’m going to check these out first. I didn’t really have the 1-1.5 hours to devote to p90 anyways.

  4. Some great sites there, i’d only seen one before (guess which one!!)

Thanks for the feedback too, I feel really bad when I go to update the site and it’s been more than a few days.

So one of my goals this year is a minimum of 3 posts per week. Feel free to send some abuse my way if I start to lapse!

I am sooo sending my boyfriend these websites! He used to be in the BEST shape – ever. I’m talking 6 pack and running miles everyday b/c of soccer. Sadly, I didn’t know this side of him since it was back in HS! He’s definitely gained the college pounds…haha. Thanks for the site you gym nut!

It seems to be soo much easier for guys to lean out though. My BF use to work out a lot too but now he doesn’t have much time except for soccer.

I really lack the discipline to stick to a gym routine! I tried and failed so many times already… BUT my family recently got a treadmill, that should be a good (re)start for me! :)

Thanks for sharing! I don’t read any fitness blogs because the ones I’ve stumbled upon have been “too much” if you know what I mean!

I don’t read fitness blogs but was hoping for something to motivate me to get fit this year. After all being skinny and unhealthy is just as bad as being overweight and unfit! I might have a look at the first site seeing it has work out vids with work outs I can do in my own home! :D

ps. The restaurant my family picture was taken in was Golden Swan.

The gym is definitely packed, and it does make it harder on regular gym-goers. But I just can’t judge these people and am instead encouraging them to keep it up :)

I feel it would be really great if I started working out but for now I’m okay with how I look and I think until I start gaining heavy pounds from something, I will continue with the healthy lifestyle I already eat. I don’t workout but I try to stay away from fat and sugar.

Oooh interesting links. Definitely will be checking them out. Haha, I’m such a workout noob. Even though I did sports in high school, I can’t do anything by myself. It just feels really different when you’re doing it together with a group and there’s someone coaching you through it.

    Sadly, the only health related site I visit is Yahoo! Health. ^^;;

    REPLY

Do you like working out alone or in a group? Most say it’s more motivating in group classes but I actually like working out alone better.

    REPLY

I think I would like to have at least a partner to work out together with. I don’t think I’m ready to do it by myself since I don’t really know what I’m doing and I’ll just end up quitting early.

Thank you for sharing those links! I rarely read any fitness/health blogs and now I’m going to spend hours going through all those. I think I’m going to try some of the Body Rock workouts!

    REPLY

Go through her archives and do some of her beginner/less intense ones if you’re just getting back into exercising again. She doesn’t joke when she says her work outs are intense!

Body Rock is the best! My goal is to have a body like Zuzana’s. *daydreams* …one day.

    REPLY

I wouldn’t want to be as cut as Zuzana but I definitely want her arms… I think her abs are too bulky though. I don’t think I can ever be that strict on my diet to lean out like that though. :P

I feel silly for not actively seeking out fitness blogs. I’m a faithful reader of Shape, I get their issue every months and work from their.

Thanks for posting all these great resources, I’m excited to check them all out!
