Pet Peeves
I found this extremely old and LONG draft listing all my pet peeves that I probably wrote when I was an extremely angry high school student. I’m a happier person now but I’m still judgemental SO here’s a shorter version.
- Drivers who don’t signal. It’s not that hard to make it a habit!! I signal even when driving on an empty street at 3am.
- Social Smokers. Example: people who only smoke in a club’s smoke pit [just because everyone else is doing it].
- People who talk (or text!) on their cellphones while driving. Thank god they may be banning this in BC. I was reading Facebook feeds the other day and surprised to see so many people complaining about this… at least now I know who the shitty drivers are. NO ONE use their cellphones and drive “normally” and if you think you can, YOU CAN’T.
-
Cheap people. It’s one thing to be cheap and wanting to save your money but it’s an entirely different thing to be cheap and mooch off your friends!! - People who seem to be “looking for” special treatment on their birthdays. Little do they know, no one gives a shit that it’s your birthday. Birthdays aren’t a big deal to me and it just an excuse to party but I usually don’t tell anyone when it is if I can avoid it, in fact, I hate people saying “happy birthday” to me. At work, they use to decorate your cube on your birthday and I use to dread it but now they just send out an email to the team but at least it’s not as conspicuous as balloons!
- Not really a pet peeve, but I don’t understand how some people can be so stupid and naive. If your life is full of drama, you have no one to blame but yourself.
What are your pet peeves?

Oh pet peeves, I have too many to list, hence why I’m such a misanthrope. I don’t like ppl who expect special treatment on their bdays either, the whole “it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to” attitude is just straight up annoying. People like that don’t deserve to have a birthday if you ask me.
Thanks for your comment. I say bring out those coloured leggings for this fall/winter season, they’re fun!

I have my own list of pet peeves, yes, but I also hate drivers who don’t signal! Argh! Drives me crazy!
AND I hate moochers as well! Those that take advantage of people to pay for them and never return the favour! I know this one person that borrowed money from someone and they asked “when are you going to pay me back?” and the borrower said, “i have to pay you back?”. Then again, those type of people are just straight-up idiots.
You hate birthdays, but I hate those people that seek attention at someone else’s birthday parties, or even just plain attention-seekers! Those that speak non-sense and say stupid things as long as they have something to say, runnin their mouths non-stop. Haha. I should totally blog about my own pet peeves

Yeah I hate people who are so stingy about getting paid back! I mean I pay people back but I never care if friends pay me back or not. If they’re your FRIENDS, why are you making such a big deal out of it right and make something out of nothing.
You should.. I love reading about other people’s pet peeves. Makes me feel less judgmental because I have sooo many.

well i was actually talking about not-a-close friend. like a coworker that you only say hi and bye to. obviously, the same rules don’t apply when they’re obviously taking advantage of other people because they’re cheap.
with friends, i don’t care if friends pay me back or not either, because eventually, i forget about it haha.
i hate people that borrow my things (because i am materialistic and i love all the things that i have and because i earn all of them) AND don’t return it, or they do return it all damaged and shit. hate that! no respect at all. they must realize that what they borrowed is not theirs. it just makes sense to return it in the same condition they borrowed it.

I know someone that is really big on the birthday thing. She “HINTS” and makes it very obvious that “OH! Sooo what’s everyone doing next week on this day because we definitely should be doing something… In fact! Let’s plan it out now!” But I still love her so we generally just give her that surprise party that she expects on getting anyways haha.
A recent pet peeve of mine is people who are cheap about splitting money on something to the point where when they pay you back they calculate everything down to the cent and give you exact change, but when it comes to my turn to pay them back… they round up. Now how does that even out!?!!

I actually had to edit this entry a couple more times and shortened it even more… I had a longass paragraph ranting about people who refuse to pay their full share of their bill if they were late and missed an appetizer in the beginning when going going for dinner… or cheap people who pays EXACTLY 10% tip when we get an EXCEPTIONALLY good dinner service. I know you shouldn’t have to pay more than 10% but these people are already annoyingly cheap so it just irks me even more. :@

oh i hate that too! cheap people that don’t pay at least 10% for good service! i’ve never been a server, but i understand how hard it is to serve. i think they deserve 15% tip or more if they provide good service!

slow drivers who take up half the lane so you can’t even pass them. people who buy SLR cameras for the first time and decide that suddenly they are experts in lighting and aperature settings. when i buy too much groceries and can’t eat them fast enough and they all go bad. people who are all talk and flash, say they’ll do this and that but has nothing to show for and no experience to get there. how the weather network is always wrong even when it’s real time right now. how some people scold me because i’ve bent the spine in their books…i personally like the well-worn look on my books so it looks at least like i’ve read them. (now no one will lend me their books…haha)

Omigosh, I also hate drivers who go into your lane and then slow down yet you can’t pass them because there’s so much traffic in the other lane. The pissy thing is that this is the damn passing lane!!! :@ :@ :@
I don’t get mad when people bend my spine but I get sooo pissed when people dog-ear my books. Only I’M allowed to do that!! I don’t do it often though. I like a mixture of new AND worn books on my shelf.
Best of both worlds… most of my favorite books are worn out because I read them so much.

Hmmm I’m one of those social smokers. I’ll get a pack of cloves and only smoke with other smokers or when I’m really stressed. But to be fair, we can’t smoke in bars here anymore (stupid!) so when my smokers friends step outside to smoke, I can either join or sit at a bar alone. (Sometimes I do do the latter.)
Yeah the birthday thing is silly. I don’t mind getting a big fuss, but if you learn to expect a great day every birthday, you’ll be extra disappointed if that day isn’t amazing, even if it’s better than most normal days. This kind of goes along with the type of girls who cause their own chaos and then bitch and BITCH and bitch about it. I follow a couple of them on Twitter; you might as well.
MY pet peeves: People who broadcast/whine aloud about being sick, people who tweet pics of every bite of food they eat, people who don’t eat meat (even the ones who aren’t pushy and have semi-compelling arguments bug me, to be honest), people who complain nonstop (especially about things within their control).

thank you! these things are so annoying! i agree with you on everything, but especially especially especially social smoking. i hate walking though clouds of smoke at school while trying to get to my next class. it’s like “okay.. i know your a duchebag and that you think you’re hella cool– fucking get over yourself!! & get the hell out of my way please” mwuahaha sorry. i get so evil when thinking about smokers. they really piss me off.
p.s. your puppy’s angry face is too cute! (lol back to my happy side)

Agree. I feel bad for all those people who got addicted to smoking because they thought it was cool too. I don’t know how anyone can think that; i’ts SUCH a disgusting and dirty habit. I think being “stressed out” is the worst excuse too (when asked how they started smoking), I mean so many other non-smokers deal with stress well enough so are you that dumb that you need a cigarette?
I wish that was my puppy but it’s not.
REPLY
My pet peeves are basically same as yours.
I can’t stand angry and swearing tailgaters who are always in a hurry who either want you to speed way faster then you want to /can and or merge into the other lane but can’t.
Another pet peeve would be of people who are so full of themselves on twitter and barely interact with people.
REPLY
I hate it when a group of people (sometimes just 2) take up the entire sidewalk! Especially when they are just standing there talking – as if they have the right to because they just bumped into eachother or they’re pregnant.
REPLY
MUAHAHHAHAHA. I have to agree with all of this. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to signal. Assholes.

on da road, i hate drivers who overtake then drive SLOWLY in front of u…my mami especially detest it! she’s like drive faster-la ah pak (or ah po) =.=
and i hate chimney too
my dad is one, but i can’t hate him for that

I think I get pissed off at myself for getting pissed off more than anything else — if that makes any sense.

I do that too when I get angry at little things. It’s kind of a waste of our time to get mad at something that shouldn’t really matter at all.

I love your pet peeves! This definitely is inspiring me to write my own – yay! I have my Friday entry!
Anyway, I agree with the SMOKERS part! social or not, I hate people who smoke, especially hot girls. I know…I’m so biased/sexist. heh.
Cell phone drivers are the worse….I have these “road rage” hand signs that I use (or boyfriend uses since i’m so nice on the road even if I AM pissed!) and they say things like “GET OFF THE PHONE!!!” or “JACKASS” or “GET OFF THE ROAD.” Comes in handy when you see a car in the left lane going 50 mph!

Omigosh… where’d you get those road rage signs?? I’m going to make some too!! I’ve always wanted to hold signs up when I pass dumb drivers.

Oh I know what you mean about the birthday thing. I mean some of them would remember mine and say it out loud so that everyone can hear =_= and then they ask me what I’m doing for my birthday. I normally don’t do anything big and they would just go ‘Ohh’ it’s not like I ‘have’ to do something. At least they could wish me a Happy Birthday a bit quieter >_>

I agree with all of yours except the social smoking thing. I always smoke when I go out to a bar or something, but it’s not really because my friends are doing it, I just always crave for a cigarette when I’m drinking.
Few of mine: People who sigh a lot. I always think they’re upset or something and it annoys me! When someone slurps and smacks a lot when they’re eating, people who cuss a lot and say “fuck” five times in a sentence, bolt-ons (the really round up to the chin fake boobs)
REPLY
People who DONT turn off their signal after signalling! Drives me nuts…but after a few blocks you catch on…
I absolutely hate smelling like food after coming out of the restaurant. I must spray myself with perfume after… Is it just me? lol
“I got something to tell you….wait actually nevermind” – don’t you just fucking hate that?
People who walk really slow in front of me.
Fake people
guys who think their so hot and so fly that think they can pick up any chick…you guys come off as try hards and losers
People on the skytrain/bus that turn their music so loud the ENTIRE train can hear it? Are you fucking deaf?!
People who are cruel to dogs!
When people (specifically my brother) who borrow my car and switch all my settings and not switch them back after!!
The list goes on!! But thats all i can think of right now lol!
REPLY
I hear you sister! When I did my pet peeve post last year I think majority of my peeves were to do with other drivers. Everything they do! Drive to slow, they get on my nerves, drive too fast, they’re an asshole driver.
I’ve got a bunch, I think I’ll do another Peeve post.

Awww, I love partying with my closest friends for a birthday..

LOL I agree so much on cheap people. I have a “friend” exactly like that but I just decided to cut her off my life recently. It’s so annoying!

Ah i’m not alone haha I don’t like celebrating it either…pff It feels like asking for gifts if you say it -> hey it’s my birthday ->hint: buy me a present! O not to forget I really can’t hide my expressions when I don’t like an gift…yup awkward… Hmm other pet peeves…haha I hate it when couples get al over each other when i’m in the train..and I’M NEAR. I don’t like it when people lable moving into a new room as ROOMWARMING(hint: hey it’s like housewarming…buy me a present)I hate it when I talk dutch people talk back in english because i’m asian. I dislike people who ask me things but actually don’t care what i’m saying. And the list goes on haha…

I absolutely agree to everything on your list! Especially with those people who seek “Special attention” because it’s their birthday… it’s really not that big of a deal, it’s coming back in 365 days anyway. It drives insane when I’m watching a drama and my parents (I swear purposely) interrupt me for the stupidest reasons. I HATE cheap people too…I’m not rich or anything but my friends always assume I am because my parents can provide me a bigger house compared to my friends and I have money on me…like how can I not if I go out right? They always expect me to pay for them or they would borrow money from me and not pay me back. With me, I will end up forgetting anyway but there’s a difference between having the intentions to pay me back and not at all. If you were sincerely going to pay me back, I’ll end up treating you to Starbucks or telling you to keep it anyway until I need money but if you’re out to lie to me just for a few dollars, that’s just sketchy. I stopped lending out money after that since it was always me paying them back and they never pay me back even when they say they would. I’m not being too bitchy am I? lol. I loathe slow, idiotic drivers and people who walk super slow… it’s like why don’t you move so people behind you can get to where they need to be… you might not be running on time but others might. I always move or switch lanes when I know the person behind me wants to pass me driving or walking.
Great post, by the way! =] Thanks for allowing the rest of us to rant about our pet peeves. =]]

anything that has to do with drivers and being out on the road is a pet peeve of mine. especially those who turn into your lane and go under the speed limit… and then they don’t signal. it gets my blood boiling.
i actually have to many. that’s why sometimes, i just don’t socialize with the world. maybe that’s why i’m such a night person cus people are asleep. heh

I’m so glad we share the same opinion about birthdays – I wish people would just ignore it for the most part but I guess that seems rude. I hate when I have to reciprocate the thought – I dunno. I guess I’m picky

My biggest pet peeve is when people pollute my decent air by farting. Wow, that can really be upsetting! But I’m learning to
Train My Pet Peeves and would like to share with others (cick the link) as its both important to talk about our pet peeves and more importantly learn how to handle it too. Thank you for blogging about your pet peeves.
