Things I Love

  • Health! Lately, I’ve been obsessed with getting healthy, working out and nutrition. I won’t cut my favorite foods (ever) but I’m eating it in moderation and eating more foods with higher nutritional value. Being and feeling healthy is an awesome feeling!
  • Water. It seems like all I drink nowadays is water (and coffee). I took a sip of apple juice this morning and the sweetness almost killed me. What the fuck happened to you, my dear taste buds? I’m not complaining but still. ;)
  • Hot Pot Hot Pot. All hail cold weather… the time for hot pot is arriving!! Well, we do it in the summer anyway but it’s funner and cozier doing it in the winter. The only downside of it is the clean up but thank god for all the all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurants in Richmond.
  • World Without End (Ken Follett). I finally got around to reading this book (sequel to The Pillars of the Earth) and can’t believe it’s over! I hope Follett continues the Kingsbridge legacy. Five stars. Has anyone read any of his other books? Are they good?
  • Soju. Best drink ever… after Grey Goose shots and Chi-Chi’s.

I’m a gym rat now! I don’t really know much about training, but I do want to lose weight. I’m not cutting out my favorite foods either, but moderation is definitely key. Keep it up!!!

I’m not a huge hot pot fan probably because I haven’t had any good hot pot!

Definitely… I think you can lose weight by eating whatever you want as long as your eating within your calorie range and working out a lot. Remember to eat a huge breakfast of protein and carbs every morning though to jump start your metabolism. ;)

I just started concentrating on my health again. I am starting bikram yoga next week -the one where you do poses in the hot heated room! I am sure I will hate myself the first week but determined to try and go.

Water – definitely must drink. I find myself very sluggish and tired if I do not stay hydrated during work hours. Anything too sugary or caffeinated is bad for you so I alternate between tea and water. :)

Hot pot – yummy!! it is a good idea during the winter. you didnt mention PHO though!!!

Soju – i LOVE LOVE LOVE soju. More than grey goose(bad experience at the age of 19). Soju makes me a happy drunk but it gives you the worse headache the next day. I do enjoy patron if it’s served extremely chilled!

I loved book two and three of song of fire & ice. book 4 is very different b/c he introduces new characters povs and its not the same characters that you grow to love/hate as before. I recommend finishing book two and book three is very thrilling especially the middle/end. Why did you stop on book 2?! :)

    REPLY

I won’t ever do Bikram’s yoga because I can’t stand heat!! I know I won’t be able to bear it.

Pho is okay… I like hot pot better. :P I like the hue style pho better though, you know with those thicker rice noodles? Yum yum.

I stopped reading book 2 only because I got busy and when I did have time, I ended up starting another book. I have so many half-read books sitting on my shelf but I’ll get back to them soon. :P I also had some trouble concentrating on book 2 so it’s good because I probably needed a change of genres for a bit.

You have great taste in books. I read some of your recommendations from last time and you’re really tempting me with some of the new books that you’re reading right now. Sounds soo interesting but I just picked up the new Dan Brown book and haven’t even opened it yet =(. Props to being healthy =)! We gotta take care of our bodies since we only have one!

    REPLY

Thanks! Everyone has different tastes in genres though so it’s hard to recommend a book for everyone. Let me know what you think of the other books if you do end up reading them! :D

I haven’t picked up his new book yet either but I’m going to wait until the paperback version comes out.

I love working out, even though sometimes laziness gets in the way but reading this definitely gives me perspectives. I need to be more…motivated :) . I’m happy at least I’m good with proper water drinking, I always drink tons of water.

And hotpot..yummm. I usually go with mom and family to hotpot types of restaurants, so they can cook and I can just eat more LOL I’m bad at cooking.

    REPLY

Aw, the fun part in hot pot is cooking it.. and fishing in the soup and finding over-cooked surprises in there at the end of the hot pot session. :P

  13. Hello there! I agree that feeling healthy is quite awesome. I go to the gym 4 to 5 times a week with cardios in-between strength training and yoga.

I just can’t help but smile when I saw your header. It reminded me of the story of Marie Antoinette. I find the cake scenario quite hilarious.

Btw, I got here from Scott!

  14. Health is wealth. I’m glad you’re keeping up to a healthy lifestyle. I’m feeling really unhealthy now since I’ve been snacking on a lot of junkfood (feeling guilty).

I tried Soju once and I think it’s too strong.

I probably should be a bit more concerned about my health. I take that back — I am, I just don’t do anything about it. I wish I could find time to hit the gym but it’s so hard having a kid. Maybe at least I can work some daily push-ups and sit-ups in or something. But I’m lazy.
