The Definition of Narcissism Pt. 2
- I hate compliments and birthday wishes [in person] because I never know how to react to them so don’t compliment me or give me birthday wishes [if you see me in real life]!! With that being said, people who fish for compliments really irritate me.
- When I see a guy carrying a [LV] murse (and/or covered in Ed Hardy), I instantly feel mortified for them… and then I feel bad and have to look away because it looks so pathetic.
- When I go out, I can take up to 4 hours to get ready. When I go to work, I only need 5 minutes.
- I don’t like anyone using my computer; it’s locked for a reason.
- I cannot sleep without a sleeping mask.

Apparently Mochi needs one too.

I think a lot of people feel like this; I’m the same way. I always love when I get a simple “thanks,” or “that’s nice of you to say” so I’ve been trying to imitate that these days — more for the person giving the compliment than anything else. In Japan the customs are of course different though, so I have to go with that route: “nonono, I’m terrible-horrible-lousy at EVERYTHING!”

LOL at number 7. That was great hahah.

LOL @ the sleeping mask! Bless Mochi, absolutely adorable
I’ve never slept with a sleeping mask. They made me feel claustrophobic! I’m exactly the same with compliments etc in person…I close myself off if that happens! Btw I have a really good deal on some MAC pigments (full size) @ about £14.50 (or less) Canadian Dollars for you. Dno what they’re like price-wise in Canada but if it sounds good e-mail me

It was annoying when I first started using it because of that strap that goes around your head but now I can’t sleep without it! You have to get the soft silk ones though so it feels good against your skin.
I usually buy my Mac pigments in sample containers because I don’t wear make up everyday so it takes forever to use even one tiny jar. I’ll let you know if I need anymore though. Thanks girl!

Hmm…I’ve never used a sleeping mask before. I thought about getting one when I was at Bath&Body Works since they had this super cute set with a stuff sheep toy.
When in doubt, I say thank you….it gives me so time to process what is happening.

Haha I used to feel really uncomfortable when people give me compliments too. Now, I’m fine and just say thank you. I despise it when people sing happy birthday for me! I just have to awkwardly stand there and smile until they finish. It’s even worse than a quick, “Happy birthday!”
So are your eyes sensitive to light? I used to use a sleeping mask but now, I’ve just made it a point to make sure it’s pitch black when I sleep.

I can sleep at night without a sleeping mask even if there are lights on (eg. digital alarm clock)… I just can’t stand any bit of sunlight in the morning because I get really pissy and annoyed since I’m totally not a morning person!

happy birthday beautiful!! ;p no i think i have the same problem with compliments. my mom taught me to be very modest so if someone were to say “you’re so pretty!” i feel like i should argue that i’m not really, but i hate to argue bcus of course people usually stick to their opinion. however if i just say “thank you,” then i feel like i’m being conceited for accepting their compliment bcus if i do then i must think that i’m “so pretty” too… lol then i think too much about & i just don’t respond
& i’m definitely the same with #8. my boss even asked me before, “rikka why don’t you even look nice for work?” haha he was such a jerk~ i told him “what? at least i brushed my hair today!” [usually i don't for school or work] i’m joking though he was really cool, but i hated him bcus despite the way i looked at work he always told me i’m pretty. awkward..

I use to do that modest response thing too because I don’t want to be like “oh I know” (like some girls actually do!!) but then that just took too long and dragged on the awkward situation for even longer so I think it’s definitely better to say a simple “thank you” and change the subject.

I don’t know about the birthday wishes, but I have a hard time accepting compliments. I bartend part time, and tonight at work, my regular customer gave me a compliment (I think he was being genuine, I THINK) and I asked him if he was just trying to butter me up for some free drinks.

LOL with #6. I dunno how to deal with compliments either. Some girl complimented my outfit once and I looked at her like, What’d you want?! LOL. I felt really bad after. Like why didn’t I just say a simple, ‘thank you’? I swear, it’s the Vancouver atmosphere. I always think everyone has a motive

Hahaha yeah it’s weird when people stop you on the streets to compliment you. A lot of people do that with my glasses and I’m just like.. uhhh… thanks…

I totally agree with guys covered in Ed Hardy/Affliction and any of those types of “hardcore gangster but fashionable & expensive” shirts….I will seriously die if my boyfriend left the house wearing any of that.
I hate people using my computer too – especially my brother.
& Mochi looks TOO cute

Omg I would never let my boyfriend wear Ed Hardy… I threaten him all the time when we’re in a store selling that crap even when he doesn’t walk towards there. I think he gets my point. He does have an Affliction shirt though, which I bought him!!!
OOPS. Well I only got it because it was a GSP fight shirt and he’s been wanting it for sooooo long and I didn’t know what to get him for Valentines. LOL. Well at least he doesn’t wear anything with skulls or roses on them.

i agree with the first point hehe, sometimes i’m so scared i dunno what to say that i give the wrong facial expression by accident haha

I wouldn’t say I’m too scared about my expression but I just find that it’s always an awkward situation for me because I don’t want to seem too conceited and full of myself. I usually just laugh and say thank you though.

Girly you have such opinions, I love them!
I don’t know how to react to compliments too, usually just a simple thanks and smile maybe? LOL. Idk what’s the right way to respond to them .
