Things I Love

My first point would’ve been Wednesdays since it’s breakfast wrap day at work (I began this entry a couple weeks ago) but noo0o0o (*insert teenybopper whining here*)… we got a new catering company to run our cafeteria and they took it off the menu. Needless to say, the past Wednesday felt extremely empty and incomplete. I hope they bring the wrap back soon.

Anyway on with the list:

  • Grey's Anatomy Grey’s Anatomy. There is only one word to describe Thursdays: Grey’s Anatomy (well two). It’s the only TV show that I actually try catch on TV every week and I love it so much that I work my schedule around it (I will sell you out if you ask me to do something on a Thursday night)… you have no idea how bad it was in December when they were airing reruns; my soul was slowly melting away as I craved for bloody new surgeries and Christina’s sarcastic death threats. Who doesn’t love steamy, gory hospital drama?! Not me! I just wished they would kill of Izzy (ZzzZ) and Denny (again) and bring back George’s airtime.
  • Boots Boots. I am obsessed with boots. Flats, heeled, booties, platform boots, etc. etc. I LOVE BOOTS. I was never a huge shoe person; I barely wear runners (only to the gym), stilettos, sandals nor flats during winter/fall and part of spring but I will splurge with no guilty feelings on a nice pair of boots. I even love UGGs for godsake because they are “boots.” Too bad summer is coming because it’s too damn hot to wear ‘em (I hate summer with a passion) so I have only 6 more months to wear them all out so I have an excuse to buy more next year.
  • The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. These books have been on my to-read list for years and I finally picked it up during a quick midnight trip to Target in L.A. (I know, the first thing I buy in L.A were books… who does that?! ). It’s about a boy and his dragon— classic fantasy and of course, I loved it and it made the next Terry Brooks book I read dull because I was thinking of but still waiting on book 3 (Brisingr) to come out in paperback to complete my collection.
  • The Boathouse Restaurant The Boathouse Restaurant. It’s not super classy but this is definitely one of my favorite restaurants because the service is always good and the food is awesome. I always order steak and lobster, always giving my leftovers to Boyfriend because I can never finish it especially with keylime pie for dessert coming and their Crab & Shrimp Topped Portobello Mushroom is heaven filled with a thousand delicious calories. The 5 of us are going for dinner this Saturday and it was a toss-up between Korean or Steak/Seafood and of course the latter won because we haven’t gone there in a month and Lobster Fest is on. Now please excuse me as I go sit in the corner and drool in a bucket. [Picture on the left courtesy of their website.]

Did you watch Grey’s Anatomy from the beginning? You kinda have to watch from the first episode or you might not get it…

The first three seasons of Grey’s Anatomy were given to me as a gift. I love that show too! I mean, I’ve only seen the first season (so no spoilers please :P ) butI like it so far.

Crab & Shrimp Topped Portobello Mushroom? I am seriously about to drool. Those are all my favorites.

I love Grey’s Anatomy, too! I also made my lovee like it. X3 McSteamy, so yummy… Can’t wait till they show the new season here, too!

I also love boots, best for winter. ^^

I think it’s funner watching it all at once (eg. when the season is over)… if I had the patience like I do for other shows, I’d totally do it!

I’ve always liked Grey’s… but this season seems to be going way downhill unfortunately… I hope they can pick up the slack soon.

    REPLY

I agree, the show hasn’t been as good since before the writers’ strike but I still watch it because I love the characters like Christina, McSteamy and Callie. I really can’t stand Izzie, Denny and Meredith though! :@

I totally agree with you on everything you’ve listed except those books because I have never had the chance to read them. I didn’t get to catch Grey’s last night but this season has been quite odd. Well, mostly because of the totally implausible ridiculous Izzie and Denny dynamic and IT’S SUCH A WASTE because Alex is so cute this season! Argh!!!!

And I recently have started to obsess about boots. Whenever I hit up a shoe store, I totally make a beeline for the boots. It’s horrid. I’ve had my eye on a Steve Madden pair for a while that just went on sale online but my New Year’s resolution for 2009 was to curb my spending habits and my boyfriend quite pointedly mentioned that spending 150 (plus shipping!) on a pair of boots came under the category of unnecessary purchases so I decided not to get them. Oh…but they’re so pretty…ahhh

    REPLY

I SAY JUST GET THEM!!! If they’re that great, it’d be a great investment because you’ll wear it lots. That’s how I see things although they don’t help my bank account much. :S

Hmm ive never watched greys before. It never came to my interest. That restaraunt sounds pretty good. Im a boots person too but i hate winter lol. I love heels also. By the way hopefully you remember me. I used to blog at sunshine.Yummeh.net. Youll be hearing more from me now :)

I’m so far behind with Grey’s. I remember how hooked I was before the whole writers’ block but I haven’t watched a single episode from the latest season. I don’t really like the Izzy character. I dunno, she bugs me on a lot of levels. I always look forward to Christina though. I mean how can you not?

I have never heard anyone who lives in Van say they hate summer haha. Our summers are barely warm. And your reasoning is BOOTS. You should show off your boot collection for us.

Hope you get your wrap back!

    REPLY

Well I hate summer because summer fashion never really interested me and my body is soo sensitive to heat so I can’t stand it. I can stand winter because I can bundle up… but it’s not like I can strip down naked (all the time) when it gets too hot.

My boot collection isn’t that big actually.. I only started obsessing with boots recently but maybe I’ll take a picture one day. A lot of them are sitting at the top of my closet and I’m too lazy to take them all down.

I stopped watching Grey’s Anatomy after season 3 (I think) because the writing just got so bad. It was in the middle of the writer’s strike, so maybe that’s why. Is it worth catching up? I just got so sick of Meredith and McDreamy breaking up and getting together over and over again. It can only happen so many times before my eyes start rolling out of control.

    REPLY

Mer/McDreamy don’t do that anymore, but there’s a LOT of bad writing in other areas. I’m still hanging on because when the writing IS good, it’s REALLY good, but I’ve got one foot out the door… :(

Grey’s Anatomy is okay, but I think House rocks–not as much drama, but definitely some great character development. Either way, i think you can watch both on Hulu now.

I used to be totally into season 1 and 2 of Grey’s Anatomy and then I started watching Heros and now I’ve stopped watching TV….I’m so lame now.

Boots are so awesomeeeee! I’m only recently started wearing them in the last two months and they are a girl’s best friend in the winter.

    REPLY

I don’t watch TV much too.. I watch shows online or on DVD when the season is over so I can have a marathon. I hate waiting a week for the next episode of each show!

I wish the weather here was more pleasant for boots. I only have two pairs (I dont wear the other, cos theyre boxing boots wtf lol) and I only wear them at night/during rainy days.

    Happy New Year!

I used to never miss an episode of Grey’s, but it’s gotten so bad lately, especially since they’ve brought Denny back (though I still can’t help but watch). I think it started to get bad when Meredith fake died and had that out of body experience – lol bad writing, but it’s still fun to watch and critique it though.

Quit tempting me with restaurants I don’t have access to!! I’ll have to make a mental note to visit that place when I’m in Canada next!

I love boots, but I’m so picky when it comes to them that I don’t wear the majority of the ones I own! And it’s so hard to find new ones that I like!

I’m obsessed with Grey’s too, but they need to be more creative!

Katy, you’re not alone when it comes to loving boots! Although I am a person of an opposite sex (aka male), I’m a big fan of boots! I think that when coupled with a really lovely coat and scarf, women wearing boots in the winter look really, really great – I got that imagery after watching The Devil Wears Prada, in the opening scene of a montage of female workers dressing up for work. They’re fashion statements, and are timeless trends as well :)

Your lucky boyfriend! He gets to eat the steak and lobster that you can’t finish… wait a minute, don’t tell me that you finish all the goodies and keep the vegetables for him heheh :D that’s what my cousin does to her boyfriend. Teehee!
