Do you say “dinner” or “supper”? I say “dinner” now but I realize that I use to say “supper” when I lived in Saskatchewan and so does everyone from there.
I grabbed this from Felisa’s blog (she has the best entries to steal
) because I think this is a great idea and ZOMG I LOVE FOOD.
Imagine that the world is about to come to an end tomorrow and you’ve said good bye to all your loved ones. As you sit on your bed about to sleep for the last time, a genie comes out of nowhere and tells you that he will prepare a feast for you. List everything you want to eat and he will give it to you. Your stomach will temporarily become bottomless and it will be like a buffet — you can eat as much as you want. There will be no guilt for anything. Time will stand still until you’re done eating. What will you want to have?
- Crab & Shrimp Topped Portobello Mushroom from The Boathouse Restaurant. It’s mine and Boyfriend’s favorite appetizer. EVER.
- Black bean chicken feet. When you go for dim sum, order some “fong-chao.” It’s feet but you won’t regret it. I LOVE FEET. You can call a chicken feet fetish if you’d like (actually don’t, that just sounds wrong). Twentyfourcarat.net is an unoffical endorser of black bean chicken feet.
-
Peking duck wrap. This is one of my favorite dishes from Chinese restaurants. It’s basically a piece of a peking duck wrapped in the thin pancake with hoi-sin sauce and spring onions. So if your one of those people who think Chinese food consists of sweet and sour pork and kung-pao chicken… you guys are only eating our version of McDonalds which is pretty nasty in my opinion. Chinese people rarely eat “Chinese fast-food.”
It’s like how I always thought Vietnamese people only ate pho and lemongrass chicken until I met boyfriend.
[Picture from here.]
- Mom’s black bean spare ribs served with…
-
Grandma’sMy fried rice. My grandma taught me how to make it exactly like she does so I get to call it my own now.
I also love grandma’s sticky rice. -
Steak (it HAS to be medium rare or else it ruins your whole dinner) with a simple side of garlic mashed potatoes and veggies; mushrooms, zucchini and steamed brocolli. A nice and simple lobster tail would be nice too. [Picture from here.] - Korean seafood pancakes from Jang Mo Jib. Is there another restaurant in Vancouver that makes it better? Let me know!
- Lemon meringue pie for dessert please.
- Orignally, I was going to add Red Lobster’s Cheese biscuits but I realize I need a drink too. It’d be a Chi-Chi because I love anything that tastes like pina-colda. A bottle of Gray Goose would be fine too because if the world was about to end, you might as well be having a little fun right?
- And RIGHT before the world ends, I want to be eating … DUNDUNDUN
…POUTINE. Fresh, crunchy fries drizzled with LOTS of gravy and cheese curds— nothing fancy but it’s the ultimate comfort food… and it’s Canadian. Seriously, what’s Canadian anymore? Everything of ours have been sold to the US. “If I were a fry, my boyfriend would be gravy and I’d be cheating on him with the cheese curds.” I freaking love poutine… I think I have to say they are better than carne asada fries (sorry Californians!).

Picture from here.
This list took me so long to write because you have no idea how hard it is to narrow it down to TEN food items. These are one of those entries where you have to cheat and do a “part 2″ later on.
What will be in your last supper? Remember guys, this is a very serious post because it is related to food AND the end of the world so think carefully.
And please remember to link Felisa.

I can talk about food any given day. I didn’t have any room for chicken feet but if I made it a top 20 list, that would definitely have made it! My mom makes freaking awesome chicken feet which she slow cooks with anise and other spices. My mouth’s watering just thinking about it. And peking duck? It doesn’t even have to be in a wrap. That stuff’s pretty awesome.
And yes, it’s a very serious topic… it being the end of the world and us having to narrow down what we’re going to eat to JUST 10 items. Haha

I love the Peking duck wraps. Every time we eat out at this restaurant, we ALWAYS eat that. It’s so delicious. I had a tofu one and it still tasted fucking insanely yummciouss.
I would want:
1. An in & out burger (I’ve never had one sadly!)
2. Slices of cheddar cheese and a baguette
3. Pad thai. OMG PAD THAI <3
4. Quail – cooked any way. LOL. Don’t ask.
5. Paneer Mahkni – amazing Indian dish
6. Anything Ethiopian
7. My mom’s good ole Filipino-style spaghetti
8. A cuban sanwich from Hamburgao
9. A coldstone ice cream – cake batter, graham crackers, and caramel
10. A big pot of fondue
It was really hard thinking of food – so I just thought of things I’m craving for now.

I’m the LEAST fussy eater in the world.. I think I’d eat anything.
I’m not a huge fan of chicken though because it’s usually too dry if you order it at Caucasian restaurants. I only like fried chicken (hell yuh!) and the various way Chinese people cook it.

I’ve never had poutine before. Then again, I’m California. Carne asada fries are only good up to a certain point. Poutine looks really good though, except I won’t know how to find them unless I go up to Canada.
Haha…my Chinese friend used to think that Vietnamese people only ate pho, and so she was so surprised when she came over to my house…lol. “Um..no. We only eat pho like once a month.”

I was surprised when I found out that my boyfriend’s family rarely ate pho at home too just because it takes too long to cook. He says that when they do want pho, they would rather just go out and buy it. Viet food is yummy though (although I still prefer Chinese food more). I love that pork roll! Mmmm.

LOL. What a funny post. Peking duck (I love duck) is awesome, but I don’t really like the cabbage wrap dish that comes after because I’m sucha messy eater. Have you tried genuine Kobe beef from Japan? THAT will definitely be in my Top 5. And a piece of moist chocolate cake, topped with chocolate fudge w/ french vanilla ice cream and raspberry drizzle MMM OR fondue covered fruits. Alaska roll (salmon sashimi w/ avocado) from Sushi Town. I’m actually quite surprised you were able to narrow it down to 10! All this food talk is making me hungry!

I love the cabbage wrap.. I don’t think I can ever let messiness keep me away from food (except for crabs which I’m too lazy to eat). I like eating the meat and stuff with rice though instead of the cabbage.
Yeah I tried kobe beef before.. but to tell you the truth I don’t think I have rich enough tastes to reallyyy tell the difference between cuts of steaks (although the kobe one did taste a tad bit better). I’d choose comfort/homemade food over expensive food anyday. Hehehe. What about you?
You know what you should try? The chocolate molten cake at Carmichael’s at the Hilton in Richmond… it’s sooo rich and I swear you’ll get a mild heart attack from eating it because it’s so sweet (but good). Not that I want you to have a heart attack though.
I like the Burnaby Roll from Fish on Rice because it has cream cheese in it. It’s funny because they call it the “BC Roll” in Cali since it has salmon and cream cheese in it.

Ugh, this is hard to do, made worse by the fact that I just ate so I’m full and thinking about food hurts!
1. Chinese scallion pancakes. Made just the way they do in the streets of Taiwan.
2. Flan. Yummy flan, not nasty flan.
3. Potato. I’m not sure what kind yet (baked, scalloped, grilled) but some kind of potato MUST be had.
4. Chocolate. Again, not sure what kind. Probably moist cake form.
That’s all I can do right now. Not a great combo of things, but all yummy!

Poutines are pretty easy to make since you seem to cook a lot except your wife may not be too happy since it’s SO not healthy. It’s just fries topped with cheese and gravy. Some places add a lot more stuff on top but I just like to keep things simple.
