It’s almost the end of the year and the start of a new one. Here are some lessons I learned in 2008:
- Lock up all the vanilla flavored granola bars in my desk. They always mysteriously disappear and the culprit always leaves me the blueberries and strawberries which I don’t like very much. (Note-to-self: next time don’t buy in bulk!)
- Buy tire insurance if you’re an idiot like me (especially if it’s cheap). When I got a set of new tires earlier this year, the guy asked me if I wanted insurance just in case something happens (eg. hit the curb and it rips); it was only like $10 more since Boyfriend knew him but I said “no, who the hell hits the curb?!!!” A couple weeks later when it started snowing and the roads were icy, I didn’t slow down enough on a right turn (since I was coming from the highway), skidded and smashed a tire on the curb— not only did I ruin the tire, I hit so hard I damaged a couple more parts inside my car and it cost $3gs to fix.
- When the toilet seat cover is closed, head to another stall or you might find a nice little surprise.
- Always get Christmas cards printed ONE MONTH before Christmas— meaning have them arrive at your door one month ahead if you’re printing from an online printer.
- ALWAYS carry hand sanitizer. I opened a door at the mall the other day and got some gooey booger like stuff all over my hands.
- Always carry a nail clipper/ file and bandaids. Especially if you have weakass nails from going to the nail salon too much. And also invest in a bottle of OPI Nail Envy.
-
Don’t overcook seafood when attempting to make Korean Seafood Pancakes; I did this last night and totally failed but at least it was my first time. It didn’t taste too bad though even though I was setting myself for disappointment when my lovely Korean friend informed me that you can’t really get it to be that restaurant-like crispyness unless you use a lot of oil (which I didn’t want to do) and have a better grill. - Never take on the task of taking care of 5 or more kids at once with less than 2 adults.
- Don’t let your dog fall asleep beside your head. Especially when you hay fever or sinus problems.
- No matter how many times you read over your blog entry before publishing, you will always find spelling/grammar mistakes in it when you look back at them a year later.

We all have our own share of things to learn everyday. I actually have a journal for that which I do read from time to time just to remind me of things. But it sure is good to know that you get a little wiser everyday too. BTW, Mochi is so cute!

I always carry a nail clipper and a tweezer with me. Can’t imagine living without them!
And that pic of the puppy is so adorable!

ah… my weapon of choice: hand sanitizer.

After displaying my collection of biscuits in my hostel room a few years earlier and only to realise a long time later that biscuit packs mysteriously disappear, I lock up all my biscuits and CHOCOLATES
(chocolates are notorious for being stolen). I buy Japanese Meiji chocolates in bulk and I lock them all up in my drawer *weak smiles*
A few encounters with things that you do not want to see in a toilet bowl in my primary school years, I’ve learned to avoid covered toilet seats at all costs. I’ve seen vomits, toilets clogged by diarrhoea/toilet paper, someone’s mobile mixed with pee (in the end he got the janitor to fish it out), pencil cases, textbooks (a revenge act by students on cheaters who hide textbooks in toilets during exam times) and etc. It’s just so funny and yet interesting because each time I lift the cover I discover something amusing and different.
Five kids and one adult = hell. I’ve tried babysitting three kids with the help of my brother and we couldn’t handle them. Not to mention FIVE!
And for the spelling mistake thing, I find it very true for me! Even when I check through my speling all the time, I still find stupid typos after a few months of publishing
I guess I need new glasses and more sleep!

Yeah, we have more than enough to do with just our one (laugh).

That’s pretty funny… great entry!! I don’t think I learnt very much this year… I just did really bad. Hahaha
Yes… hand sanitizers are a MUST!! It’s pretty gross when you’re touching everything and feel it too.

Mochi is adorable! Makes me want a puppy!
And ohmygosh about bathroom surprises. I only eat Korean pancakes when my friend’s mom makes them. They’re soooo heavenly. Her mom makes the best kim bap too! And I agree about the whole spell and grammar check thing. When I look back on old posts, I wonder if people thought that I was new to the English language. lol

“ALWAYS carry hand sanitizer” and carrying a nail file are things I’ve learnt too! I’m always too scared to touch public bathroom doors just incase someone didn’t wash their hands so I always wait for someone to open it LOL and I’m always breaking nails D:

Hahah thanks! I agree! Well I kinda don’t want to go to work tomorrow, but I want the snow and ice to go away soon!

Toilet seat was hilarious! The hand sanitizer is disgusting! hehehe
Lesson Learned for sure!!

I agree with the toilet seat one. And also the hand sanitizer. Something like that happened to me once, only that it was bubblegum and it was so darn hard to get rid of it

Yep… acrylics make your nails turn yellow if you have them on for too long.
Do you get them often too?

No, actually I’ve never tried it before (acrylic nor gel) but I wanted to try gel. That’s why I was curious! Maybe not until summer because I simply cannot afford luxurious things like that at this time of the year lol.

Mochi is a cutie pie! My doggies like to sleep right up against me. Pocky sometimes sleeps with his ass touching my head. Often, he’ll climb on top of my pillow, curl up above my head on my pillow -_- haha. It’s warm at least!
I love OPI Nail Envy! I worked with kids for 2 years, taking care of 4 babies, or 5 one year olds, or 6 twos, or 10 preschoolers at once. It can be really easy some days and HELL on other days.
I’m looking forward to your Christmas card!

i abso-friggin loved this entry, and then to end it with a darn cute fluffy lil wuppy puppy… im all hearts right now.

O god Mochi is/was so adorable!! Korean pancakes are so good, how did you learn to cook them? I want to start learning how to cook good asian food but have failed a lot…
And I didn’t know that they had tire insurance… I bump into curbs a lot! That’s a good idea to buy, plus when it’s so cheap for you. I heard Bath and Body Works is going to open in Richmond Centre, I stock up on their anti-bacterial stuff all the time because it doesn’t have that alcohol-y smell <3 h
