I’m in Cali!
Quick post since I’m still in Sacramento… but I’m coming home on Wednesday which I’m totally looking forward to. So far the trip has been fun, a lot of shopping, and eventful but extremely stressful and a lot of driving; being around like 30+ people all the time is just way too much for me because I’m that anti-social (I guess you’ll understand if you’ve been to a Vietnamese wedding but this is my first one and I’m like just in like OMG —in both a good and bad way).
I also got a total fashion faux-pas story I totally committed on purpose because I was too lazy.
The wedding was yesterday and that was fun. I got up at 6am to get ready and to get first dibs on showers and then later, Boyfriend informs me I didn’t even have to go to the first part if I didn’t want to! I wish he told me earlier because it was all in Vietnamese anyway and I could’ve used that extra sleep since I was power napping every chance I got throughout the day. At least it was an interesting experience; they were all like you better watch and learn and I’m like yeah right! I don’t plan on marrying for another 6-7 years… plenty of time.

Vietnamese weddings are always hectic! =) The morning part is the MOST boring..well for me it is because it’s such a “serious” ceremony. Did you have to wear a long dress? Anyways, have fun in Cali! Just wanted to comment. =D

No I didn’t have one so I didn’t wear it.

Oh, no! Fashion faux-pas? I make plenty of those when I’m extremely lazy!
And sounds so stressful! I hate being surrounded by a lot of people as well. I can be social, but I love being alone or with maybe four other friends.
Can’t wait to hear about everything else!

Hahaha, Vietnamese Weddings are always so huge and big… I don’t think I would ever be able to go shopping THAT much, you’re such a trooper!!
Hope your flight home is safe!! We just got another load of snow here in Cowtown, so hopefully Van is in better shape than us!

We actually didn’t shop that much… every time we attempted to go shopping, it was delayed either by traffic or other family matters so we only had like 2-3 hours max each time. It’s all good though… that made me spend less than I intended to!

Ah, the wedding craziness. I hear it comes in waves. 1st = end of college time, and 2nd = end of 20s. Glad you’re having fun, though!

Asian weddings usually have lots of rituals to observe…I probably have to go through some of them in a year or two myself.

Vietnamese wedding eh? Sounds rather fun. I love going to weddings in other cultures because there always so, so different. I get to go to a friend’s wedding in Hong Kong in a few months and I’m terribly looking forward to it. Along with just going to Hong Kong of course considering I have never been.

I agree! Watching other cultures’ ceremonies are always interesting… some of them drag on forever but it’s always still an interesting learning experience.

Hi Katy
Just wondering if you could tell us some more on the actual wedding itself? How it is compared to a traditional US or GB wedding etc. Hong Kong, now there is one wedding i would like to go to.
Look forward to reading more posts :~}
