Lip Balm & Looks

Fashion, Hair & Make-Up, Looks, Trips & Events

I finally got my lip balms from Martinsville Emporium!! They are super moist (I like to call it “lip gloss wannabe lip balm“), glides on your lips like butta and doesn’t leave that icky white film on your lips, plus there are so many flavors to choose from. I only ordered 6 but I’m probably going to order more because I’m in LOVE with these.. I just wish they tasted as good as they smell. ♥ …Imagine a lip balm MADE OF REAL FOOD… now that’ll be crazy (and moldy when I find it under the seat of my car 6 months later).

Lipbalm

Lime Sugar Supreme – My favorite! Keylime pie is my favorite dessert so this lime flavored lip balm is definitely my new HG of lip balms.
Toasted Marshmallow – Smells delicious but I think this is a flavor that I’ll get sick of if I use too much… kind of like how I can only eat like 3 marshmallows before I puke all over you.
Margarita – I love this one too because it has a hint of citrus scent but where’s the tequila? It would be hilarious if you can get drunk off a lip balm (and I can totally image some people doing it).
Lemon Meringue Pie – My second favorite since lemon meringue pie is my second favorite dessert.
Buttery Toffee – Very strong buttery smell.. smelling it is such a sin and makes me feel fat because it’s so damn buttery. Thank god it won’t add extra pounds on you though.
Raspberry Plum – Smells like heaven but after having it on for a while, it started reminding me of the Strawberry flavored lip Smackers which makes me think I’m 7-years-old again.

Recent looks with recycled accessories because since I stayed at Boyfriends all week (he got the satellite to work again!) and like always, leave most of my stuff at home:

Looks

Today I officially canceled my 6-week vacation to Asia next year and I can’t change my mind because I already told my manager and he updated the schedule for next year. With all the stuff going on, I decided to stay home and go on vacation next year instead. Boyfriend is still going to Vietnam though and I feel bad because we were suppose to travel around Asia together but he understands. The sucky thing is that WE HAVE TO GO TO EUROPE NEXT YEAR!! :@ No offense, but I have no interest in going to Europe at all… I just want to go to Asia [and Africa]. If I can’t have grilled squid, deep fried octopus, bubble tea and laugh at people carrying fake designer handbags (oh wait, I can do that here) while walking around the streets late at night, then I don’t want to go there. Boo. I guess they can wait though, I guess Europe will be fun too. If we do go to Europe, I want to visit some haunted castles.

Sorry to hear that you canceled your Asia trip :( I’m pretty sure Europe will still be fun, though!

Those lip balms look amazing! I’m a fan of lip balms – especially C.O Bigelow’s lip balm/gloss. Have you ever tried it? Yum, amazing. And makes your breath nice and fresh.

Loving the outfits! You’re so stylish.

Sorry to hear about the botched 6-week vacation plan Katy! It sucks that they have schedules that clashes with your planned trips and you have no choice but to say ’screw it!’ and cancel whatever that you’ve booked.

Europe isn’t half bad as a holiday destination – if you’re digging the rural, unexplored regions of Asia, Europe has a fair share of it and you can always ditch the tour operators for a self-planned trip (but that means a lot of planning work, which I know it’s very taxing and troublesome). Tour guides bring you to stores where they already have an agreement with and drag you to famous tourist destinations… that’s the part that I would rather avoid, since I really love the country side of Europe that a lot of tour operators don’t bring you to.

I yapped so much about vacations I nearly forgot to respond to the lip balm part! I have naturally dry skin and my lips crack very often when I was a kid. Mom got me a regular lip balm – she was afraid that if she get me a flavoured one, I will chomp the whole thing up!. I remebered being teased in school by friends and even a teacher who said that lip balms are for girls. Jeez.

p/s: Speaking of vacation, my parents promised me since I was in elementary school that they will bring me to visit the land down under and I’ve never been there hah! I guess when I get older it will be me bringing them to Aussie instead :P

    REPLY

Yeah, you totally got it! I want to see the country sides and the non-touristy destinations more. I told some people and there were like .. WTF. I even asked my sister if there were really rolling green hills in England like you see on TV and she was like “why the hell do you want to see rolling green hills?”

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with guys wearing lip balm; it’s better than having dry and chapped lips! I’ve been trying to force my BF to use lip balm but I just got him to start using hand lotion because they’re so dry so I gotta take it slow. LOL.

I guess we are attracted to the rustic charm of places! I hate going to tourist-geared areas since things are heavily over-priced – from food to lodging, transportation to handicrafts. I prefer something like a slightly more luxurious backpacking experience where you can explore the rural areas at your own pace and have a comfy bed to sleep in at night ;)

    REPLY

Yeah I totally agree.. plus it’s cool to see something that not too many people have seen. I’ll have to see if my boyfriend would want to do that though *crosses fingers*

i need to check out kiehl’s lip balm’s (their scented #1 line) too! sigh!

ooh lip balm flavors. i don’t think i’ve ever managed to finish a tube because i buy so many. :/

a 6 week vacation is so long! but at least you can go somewhere, even if it’s not where you want to go. There’s squid and octopus (at least along the mediterranean) and awesome shopping, though probably not so cheap as asia.

Thanks! I’m gonna go look at Snow Coral!

  13. cemel says:

You bought that many lipbalms at once?
On the average, one lipbalm probably lasts me a week before I lose it so I never buy more than two at a time. :(

I think Europe would be just as thrilling as Asia except you smell more arrogance in the air. haha. But seriously, 6-week vacation to anywhere is amazing.

    REPLY

I don’t usually… but they came in a pack of 6 for only $11.25 so I took that as an excuse to buy a lot of flavors. :P

I think I’m just greedy but I don’t think 6 weeks is a lot. LOL.

If you’ve read most of them, don’t worry, I’ll post more next week!

For sure, I’ll do that next week. I was going to post more but I didn’t think people actually cared too much about them. :P I’m glad you asked though!!

Ooooh wow those lipbalms look so good! I always find it hard to find a nice lipbalm..so I usually have a lipgloss to hand :)

Too bad about cancelling the Asia trip! I visited Hong Kong & China (China for only 3 days) about three years ago now, it was so good but I’m not a fan of chinese food myself so I ate so little I ended up losing half a stone in the two weeks I was there!

Plus missy, how can you say you’re too fat for skinny jeans?! From those pics you look like you have perfect legs for them! Better than mine!

    REPLY

I swear it’s just the camera angle.. I have chunky ass legs woman!! :o

Sorry, I didn’t finish writing my comment last night.

But now I’m back and ready to rock….

What countries have you been to lately?

I envy you for being able to travel to all of these great countries!@!!! Gah. See, I do have enough time and money to do it, but I don’t know anyone who has a flexible schedule and has the money to do it.

I could travel alone, but as a woman, that would sound risky.

Lovely outfits you have there. My favorite is the very first one. It’s very layered, and I love outfits with a lot of layering. :)

Oh and I got your lipstick yesterday. It’s really, really nice. The color is just what I had expected. Thank you!

    REPLY

I couldn’t resist getting all the lipbalm… there were too many yummy flavors. At least now I don’t have to worry about losing them.

I haven’t been to any country other than Canada and the US.. well Hong Kong when I was like 5 so that doesn’t count. My boyfriend is the only one who can travel with me since all my friends are in school.. but after next year, he won’t be able to anymore because he wants to start his business then. Hopefully my friends would be done school by then. Traveling with GFs would definitely be more different.. more partying! But then we’d get sooo sick of each other.

Glad you liked the lipstick! I haven’t tried on a red lipstick since I was pasty white… I wonder if it’ll actually suit me since I’m a bit tanned now. I’m too scared to try it! Hahaha.

Oh my gosh that’s a lot of lip balm Katy!!!

I’m sure all of that will last you until you have great great grandchildren, and they could probably still use it too!

Oh man, and about them tasting good, that reminds me how when I was little, I had this strawberry chapstick that smelled so good that I actually took a bite of the top half. :X

Ahh and you’re so lucky to get to go to Europe! Really, right now I just want to travel anywhere. But Europe would be amazing! Are you going with your boyfriend? And where to?

    REPLY

Yep just with my boyfriend. France for sure and then then he wants to take the train all over. I want to visit the European countryside more than the tourist-y places though.

Those are some YUMMY sounding lip balms… I’m bookmarking that website.

And I’m SURE you’ll have fun in Europe if you give it a chance… There are plenty of things to do and see there, and it’s just really pretty. Do you know what part of Europe you’re going to?

    REPLY

We’re stopping in France first because my BF promised his cousin we would visit.. then I think we’re gonna take the train all over. I know I’ll definitely have fun but I’m just not excited about it for some reason. :S

    REPLY

Well, if I was going instead of you I would be EXTREMELY excited! I’ve been wanting to go back to Europe for a few years now but school has made that literally impossible :\

And taking the train around Europe is so much fun because you get to gaze at the amazing green countryside :)

Mmm, I love lip balm like that. I got so many already that I have to try and use them all first before I get some more, it would just go to waste if I don’t. That’s too bad you won’t be able to make it to your Asia trip next year. I’m still going to try and pull through and make my way there, or at least to Japan again. Europe is on my 2010 list to make… before I settle down. Must go there!
I love your recycled looks! I tend to do the same! Heheh

    REPLY

I want to go to Japan too! But since things are crazy expensive there, I don’t mind waiting for a couple of years… we were going to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand and some other places which sucks because I was super excited.

When it comes to lip balms, my choice will be Lipsmackers. ;) Drawn to them mostly because of their scents and the bright colours. (And darn, the chocolate flavoured lipgloss REALLY smells like chocolate. :/)

I use to love Lip Smackers too… I think every girl did!

    Anyhooo!!

Dont come to Europe…well Italy have yum yum food (inc squid) but LONDON?? The food here is expensive and crap almighty!!!!

If you come to europe you can say HI to me! haha

Africa – which part?? I am going to Cape Town with work but I love East Africa – its where i am from and where my heart is!

    REPLY

I want to go all over Africa, especially EGYPT. I’m obsessed with Ancient Egyptian history. I also want to visit all the poverty stricken areas of Africa to help those in need as well as the tourist destinations. I’m just in love with the country!

Where in Europe do you live?

    REPLY

    Hey Katy

I live in London! Grimey old loopy as you like London!!

I have lived in Kenya and Tanzania in East Africa and these places have my heart and keep me humble because I go suffer bouts of affluenza!

Egypt is amayzing!! But they dont actually see them selves as African which annoys me.

    hello love,
how I stumble upon your page,,I do not know to be exact, but I’m glad I did, because I love the ultra colorful blog you’ve got goin on, definitely loving the books insights indeed, have you read the Stephenie Meyer Twilight Saga? I love the vampire novels they keep me up until wee hours. I forget that I have a life outside reading…hahaha but aside that I am crazed over fashion and this one I’m loving…anyways tata darling.

    Thanks!! :)

I actually read Twilight but I thought the book was way too over-hyped and didn’t live up to it’s reviews… I guess I might’ve enjoyed it a little bit if it wasn’t for that. I love vampire novels though, especially those by Anne Rice!

Awesome outfits! (And Photoshop skillz… you should make digital Katy paper dolls!) You say you don’t like skinnies, but in that first pic those barely look like they have a flare, and the other ones tucked in to your boots is a look more girls do with skinny jeans… just sayin’. But you look hella fierce/fun. I’m having major boot envy.

    REPLY

Thanks J! That’s a good idea actually… I might steal that idea from you. Yeah I don’t like skinnies but only with flats or with Converse. I don’t mind them tucked into boots because they don’t look like skinnies (and I can’t see the bottom part). I get so embarrassed when I have to take them off like when I go inside a friend’s house or something. LOL. Oh the first pic are straight leg jeans! :P

Europe should be good! I am seriously jealous of you, and you aren’t that even excited about it haha.

And you’re completely right about the abundance of fake LV, fried seafood, and bubble tea in BC. Hong-couver indeed! LOL :D

Thank goodness for outfit posts! I like the scarves you have. I don’t have many, and the ones I have are not nearly as pretty.

    REPLY

I got those scarves on sale.. they were like 4 for $15 or something! :P

    REPLY

  28. Hey thanks for commenting! I think you’d look sexy with bangs because you have a lovely face shape :) The lipbalms look absolutely yummy, and I get what you mean about eating more than 3 marshmallows and puking, they’re so sickeningly sweet (in a rather good way) :P

Cute outfits! I love how you accessorized with the scarves <3 the challenge for me over here is to implement them in my wardrobe which is built for 90 degree weather 365 days a year…

    REPLY

Maybe you can try silk scarves and tie them a little lower so they don’t actually warm you up and suffocate your neck! :P But then scarves aren’t the only thing you can use… I would take advantage of funky belts, bracelets and cocktail rings (I’d say chunky necklaces but I think it’s so annoying wearing them in hot weather).
