How do YOU sleep?
I find myself sleeping in these positions the most (in order): foetus, soldier and then starfish… and the I find the descriptions amazingly accurate for myself and others. For example, my grandma sleeps in the soldier position ever since I can remember and she’s extremely reserved, firm, never complains yet have high standards. My mom usually sleeps in the yearner position, and aside from the “they are slow to make up their minds,” everything else sounds right, especially the suspicious part because she’s always suspicious of things I do… hah. Boyfriend is a soldier and then a starfish… which is why he’s such a good BF.
My sister is taking a nap right now but her blankets are covering her so I can’t see her… maybe I should go analyze her but I think she’d kill me.

What your sleeping position says about you …
Foetus
Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.Log
Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.Yearner
People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.Soldier
Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don’t like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards.Freefall
Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don’t like criticism, or extreme situations.Starfish
Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don’t like to be the centre of attention.

I’m a freefaller… and that description makes me sound like a terrible person, haha.

I know what you mean, I’m a freefaller too…and sometimes a foetus or starfish….but i don’t really like the freefaller description….

I sleep in a mix of Foetus, freefall and Yearner, in other words, on i turn flat on my belly, my left leg bent and left arm reaching out, and the right arm curled.

I can never get to your site… always has a page load error?!

i’m a foetus and a freefaller but the freefaller description doesn’t fit me at all..lolz

i’m a foetus sleeper all the way! my boyfriend hates it because my ass is always on his back.

I curl up so it must be the Foetus position. I’ve never liked starfish.

This is interesting. I’m a freefaller, but the arm that’s on the opposite side of where my face faces is stretched out under the pillow.
. . . The freefaller doesn’t fit me well except for the last part, hahaha. I am definitely not a good criticism taker and accepting of extreme situations.

I sleep in the Foetus position all night. My husband says I toss around all night. I wake up in the same position I fall asleep in! The description fits me to a “T”.
As for my husband I think he mainly sleeps in the Yearner position but the description doesn’t really fit him at all.

im a Foetus & a Yearner
damn. lol

We’re exactly the same… foetus, soldier and starfish. And weirdly enough, the descriptions fit me very well.

I would say im a Foetus, freefaller… and it seems like the sleeping on the back and the log position i never tend to follow… great post.

That’s an interesting article! I usually sleep in foetus, free faller, or a combination of the two.

Yearner, foetus and freefaller. Interesting descriptions. Yearner seems very accurate. When I set my mind on something, it doesn’t change.

Yearner, only I usually end up hugging my pillow (or chubby cuddly kitty cat) instead of keeping my arms stretched out all the way

foetus and soldier definitely.
hmmm, why is my spelling of foetus underlined by red dots??!?

I actually sleep in all of these positions… just depends on my nights, and what position I’m comfortable with the most… but mostly I’m a soldier sleeper… or at least I start out as one.

I agree though, I think a lot of it just has to do with comfort. I think I sleep in all of those sleeping styles…

I’ve seen this before. The descriptions are a bit vague don’t you think? I don’t know, I read all of them, and I could fit into all of these descriptions, yet I don’t do all of those sleeping position. Still pretty interesting, regardless.

For me, it’s Foetus, Freefaller and then Solider. They describe my character some what, but not too a tee. The only one I disagree with is being “… gregarious and brash people.”
This is a good observation.

i am kind of foetus-y and yearner-ish..

I’m Foetus, and I feel my arms get uncomfortable all the time that’s why I have to have teddy bear around my arms

I’m half-yearner, half-fetus! Descriptions’ are pretty apt, too!

Wow this blog is extremely interesting. I didn’t personally think I was shy at first. But maybe I am? Your posts are so amazing.

[...] I am apparently a “Yearner” which if you read the article will tell you what being a side sleeper says about you. I’m sure each one of us can say some of these things are true or perhaps not. But a fun read none the less. Check it out and see what kind of sleeper you are! http://twentyfourcarat.net/2008/09/how-do-you-sleep/ [...]
I am a “yearner” although when I start out sleeping I’m actually a starfish. So I guess that makes me a Yearning-starfish sleeper….
Great article. Loved it!
