To me, Cirque De Soleil is not all about acrobatics but it’s the beauty, fantasy and artistic concepts displayed at the shows that really amazes me. Boyfriend suprised us (the nieces/nephews and I) with Cirque tickets again this year to Corteo in Vancouver.
Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality

Boyfriend actually thought Corteo was “boring” compared to other shows because there were less insane acrobatics. I was sooo annoyed at him when he said that because I thought it was the most amazing show I’ve ever seen… I actually teared up during some of the acts because it was so damn beautiful (yes, I get emotional sometimes). The dramatic lighting and music totally set the mood and got the viewers involved in the story and of course, the costumes and stage props were gorgeous like always. He still liked it though but he just doesn’t know how to appreciate art as much as I do (I’m still trying to drill it into his head)!
It’s kind of funny because the first time I heard about the shows in Vancouver a couple years ago, I was so excited but he was rather the opposite and didn’t want to go because he thought it was lame. Forward to a couple weeks later, he suddenly told me he was going to get tickets (of couse I had to call him a hypocrite and didn’t let him forget about it for weeks) and now I think he loves the shows more than I do!
I can’t wait to find out what’s coming next year! If you’ve never seen a show, I totally recommend you go see at least one.

WOAHMYGOD!
I love Cirque du Soleil an insane amount.. The last time I saw it was years ago in Las Vegas, and I can’t even remember much I was so young! I’ve now gone through all the clips I can find on YouTube, and I really want to go see another show! Sadly, my mom is stingy with the money
That sounds like so much fun!

Hi Katy,
About your question on my blog, I’ve tried bio-oil but it didn’t work too well with my skin. It actually made my breakouts worse. It’s probably because bio oil is made with mineral oil and I’ve heard that’s a major pore clogger. But I’m glad it’s working out well for you.
And…I’ve been wanting to see Cirque the Soleil as well! Too expensive though
. And those kiddies are soooooo cute. Can I take them home ? haha jk.

Oh that’s not good! I was actually really skeptical about using it on my face because I was scared of breaking out (I didn’t start until like a month after I purchased the bottle) but I guess I got lucky then. :S

cirque du soleil is awesome. i’m a hugeeeee fan.
i’ve seen ka, o, saltimbanco, corteo, wintuk, and la nouba. (seeing kooza in november!)
the only one that truly sucks is wintuk. dont even bother or even buy the dvd – its not worth it. its like for kids.
O is really good! I personally love Corteo – one of my fave shows but some people love it, some dont. Ka – it was ok but some people love Ka. La Nouba is definitely up to CdS standards though
i recommend you go see it everytime a traveling one comes along!
