Yesterday, Boyfriend and I were driving around Port Coquitlam burning time and looking for a place to eat. We ended up going to Hon’s because we are indecisive and picky and wanted Asian food so we always end up choosing sh!tho places (the only other Asian place around was a Pho Hoa and 24-hour pho places are nastayyy!). Anyway, that got me thinking when I saw all the Caucasian people there; most of them only know these kinds of Chinese restaurants (think Hons, No.9, King’s Garden etc.) so is that what Chinese food is to them?! That’s a shame because the food there is literally … crap? All the GOOD Chinese food are the dishes served at huge restaurants like Sun Sui Wah, Kirins, etc.; well the ones that I like anyway. There are times when you crave for food from GOOD noodle houses (like Tsim Chai Noodle House on Westminister Hwy in Richmond, across from RPM) but you can’t eat THAT much of that stuff all the time. Wait… can you?
But yeah, Hon’s was terrible and we totally consumed unnecessary and unsatisfactory calories and MSG (grrr!). I went on that electrocuting-treadmill again yesterday morning for nothing (I never learn). Speaking of the gym, the music was skipping and the staff usually doesn’t come in until 11am on Saturdays so I had to endure 3 hours of NeYo going… nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu.
Good news! Boyfriend wants to go to the states soon and that means I get to buy more jeans. Woot! I wasn’t planning to go until July/August because I really need to stop spending until I get a new closet but I guess I can’t now. Harharhar.

In our “backyard-beach” at Tofino ’06.
The girls and I are going down to the Oregon Coast as our weekend-and-a-couple-of-days trip this summer! We usually go to Tofino but wanted to go somewhere else and chose Oregon because it’s within driving distance, the coast is beautiful and of course, shopping tax-free! Hopefully the planning this year will go smoothly unlike last year. Planning is sooo damn frustrating (and maybe people who no patience shouldn’t be doing it… LOL). The first year N & I came up with the idea of going to Tofino with just the girls, I didn’t really think it would actually happen because it’s so hard getting everyone together at the same time (especially for a couple of days!) but we actually succeeded by planning months ahead, so it’s always worth it in the end.

Rose’s beautifully hilarious stick-girls; Tofino ’07.

People here eat a lot of Panda Express and consider it genuine ethnic food. The boyfriend and I go to a chain looking Teriyaki/Sushi place that is actually owned by a Korean family though. She makes the best kimchee and uses zero MSG. Or there is a great hole-in-the-wall place nearby that the boyfriend showed me that has awesome handmade noodles. Mmm.
I don’t know that I’ve had too much real CHINESE food though now that I think of it. Plus I was watching a special on how all of the American Chinese restaurants mostly have dishes designed to sell to white people back when the Chinese first came to the U.S. I totally wish I were ethnic because white people food is nasty. Except for maybe German. Love the sauerkraut and sausage. But other than that I mostly eat Korean, Japanese and Mexican food.
Also, Seaside has a great tattoo shop called Nine Lives Tattoo. My boyfriend and I both swear by it and plan to drive there for all our tats from now on. If any of you girls want to commemorate with some sick ink.
Speaking of ink, I love your stick people, especially the ones with swastika arms!
BTW,
I hate Fatima’s personality way too much to root for her. (I was actually upset that her makeover made her look so good.) From the first episode I thought I was going to love her, because she was calling the black girls out on being stupidly ghetto. But she is a drama head.
I like categories and they are for my big main topics, but tags are smaller and more random. It was suggested I add tags to help my page ranking and such.

Oh and I think this might be the one you already use but I have a plugin from http://eightface.com/wordpress/flickrrss/

Hey there, first time reader/commenter – love the layout, btw. I love Chinese food myself, but now that I think about it, I wonder if I’m loving “real” Chinese food or not. The small town in Colorado that I lived in has only one restaurant (Shanghai Garden) – which I’m willing to say is more real than say… Panda Express, like J said. So, I guess that my view is quite small. I did go to China and have “real” food though, does that count? Haha.
That sounds like so much fun, having a trip with just the girls! I would love to have an adventurous group of friends to do stuff with. Good luck with the planning.

I know I eat at Panda Express almost twice a week–and I am on my way there now, but it’s because it’s the only Chinese Restaurant that will take my Student ID. Of course, I love authentic and exquisite Chinese food. There are some amazing restaurants in Washington, D.C. Especially this area called Georgetown with all of these rich, preppy, politicians and they’re children live. The food is well priced for that area, a huge huge plate could cost me $12-18! Of course I speak for myself, but you’d have to try it out and see for yourself! Oh and LAWL: “I had to endure 3 hours of NeYo going… nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu-nu.” I really do not like Ne-Yo…*grumbles*

The only good noodle house here in Singapore is Crystal Jade (which has several outlets islandwide) and they’re supposed to be really good. But apparently, I’m sick of them – made a grave mistake by stuffing myself with too much of them, especially when I was going through a phase whereby I was crazy over their shrimp wanton noodies and seafood horfun, and soon, my appetite for their food just fizzled away. Too much of a good thing can turn you away, I suppose.
I sell stuff on eBay, but have never bought anything from there before, although I have done so at other sales sites. Bidding is too hard work, I feel. (The feeling of being outbidded is just … ARGH.) I will rather use the ‘Buy It Now’ function if the price is reasonable enough.

My sniping skills are a bit rusty on ebay too…. I had to resort to the powersnipe.com program. It usually is my lifesaver since most of the auctions I bid on always end around dinner time!
If you ever decide to do a girls trip to Cali, try the summer time cause there are TONS of sample sales.

This is what I loff about the Philippines: Chinese food, even the fastfood kind (Chowking, yum!), is good. Wait, did that make sense? It’s so easy to find a good Chinese restaurant that isn’t expensive here. Except I try not to eat as much, because of the MSG. That’s why my fave food of all time is Japanese because I won’t feel guilty after eating two kilos of tuna sashimi
And why are you the biggest stick person?

Yummy lookin’ food, girl lol. The font is tahoma. I’m in the process of my fix-its here and there. lol. Work has been wearing me out even though I sit on my ass and take calls and fix a problem a customer has. I guess it’s the lack of enough rest. I’m still trying to get in the habit of sleeping early and then getting up at 430 am.

My boyfriend loves the Chinese food here in the states, I personally don’t like it much – it’s all deep fried! He could eat it everyday, and I can handle it like once a year!
