Spa Goodies

Rants, Trips & Events, Visual Media

I snagged an invitation to the Spa Party at the Sheraton Wall Centre and went with N&D tonight. We got free Swedish massages, delicious hor d’oeuvres, henna tattoos and LOADS of free goodies.

Pure Divine Spa
(The bag was full too! I just gave some to the sister)

Talk about smart advertising. They were giving multiple bags of samples these to everyone so they can give away but I’m gonna keep all mine and just refill the full bottles we got when it’s empty (it was N’s idea not mine). Hahaha kidding.

Anyway, weekend was awesome. Out with the old regulars just like the old days. Perfecto.

Halloween

You know what is so freaking annoying? When people blast their music in their cars. You are not cool, idiots. And why is The Beat so annoying now? I turned to it for the first time in months and they are playing some crappy Top 40 stuff that isn’t even “hip hop.” I know it’s been like this for ages but it still pisses me off that their all hip-hop concept somehow disappeared.

And Bill Good can kick Kid Carson’s arse anytime. ;)

Sorry, I haven’t been posting much. It’s all Jack Bauer’s fault because he is too damn cool.

PS. I’m glad you’re thinking of me.

Uh oh

News & Issues, Questions

I’ve done something horrible… I started watching 24. And now I can’t stop.

(that’s why I haven’t been posting)

I started watching it the day before TV Links got shut down! What perfect timing. Oh well, I got DVDs so I’m watching them legally now. :P

I got my new tires this morning. The total was only $592!! No labor costs and got discount on nice tires. Supposedly they can drive well in snow too because it has good treads even though they are mid-seasons… so hello boarding! Yay. I mean, hello who the hell buys winter tires in Vancouver? Oh wait, my boyfriend.

What are some things that are worth (and not worth) spending money on?

Worth: electronics, books, food (Essentials or things that will last)

Not-worth: make up, $300 jeans, expensive purses (Things that are just in-the-moment guilty pleasures and will screw you over financially in the long run.)

Honestly, does a girl really need 32 different lip glosses in different shades? Maybe 10 but not 30-something!

Today at work we had a 2-hour presentation and demo by the wonderfully talented and inspiring concept artist, Andrew Jones. He talked about his life, how he became an artist, what he did, his inspiration, his philosophy and it was super interesting and awe-inspiring with a hint of humor. Then he showed us his demos and tips in Corel Painter. The whole experience was beyond awesome.

He started out as a concept artist for a video game company, then him and his buddies started conceptart.org as a joint portfolio to increase traffic and it exploded into a web phenomom, turning into a major web community. Later on, they started a company called, Massive Black which does concept art, 3D-modeling, animation and a ton of other things for their clients and of course, it became a huge success as well. They also started doing artist workshops because they wanted to travel around Europe but didn’t want to pay for it! It’s funny how something so insignificant like that can blow up to something as big as it is today. Later on, he decided he wanted to do something new and different with his creativity so he started do live paintings for concerts and raves. All I can say is… WOW. I’m high on inspiration. I wish I had ambition like his then I could let my creativity go crazy. Unfortunately, I don’t… yet.

Anyway, their next workshop is in Seattle next year but it’s the same weekend we are going to Big White! I’m not a concept artist nor even an artist, but this is good inspiration and that’s all that matters.

Andrew Jones. Andrew Jones. ANDREW JONES. Don’t forget that name!

Anyway, when I was telling the Boyfriend today, he was like “OOOOH ANDREW JONES!” And I was like “oh, the baseball player?” (trying to sound like a smartass). Little does he know, I googled Andrew Jones earlier and saw him pop up in the results too. HAHA.

If you could travel through time, what era would you visit and why?

Ooh, I would totally travel back to the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt when Nefertiti lived or to Cleopatra’s Ptolemaic dynasty. Or I would go back to England in the 17th Century. Hmm. That’s hard. :S
