Dying patients back legal assisted suicide in survey.
Assisted suicide is such a personal decision between the patient, doctor and family/friends. Not everyone is religious, not everyone believes in hell, and there is no such thing as “sucide is cowardly and lame” if someone is dying and in so much physical and emotional pain that they CHOOSE to end their own lives. Human life is precious, but if one has no chance of survival and is only holding by a bare thread and wants to go quickly and peacefully, who has the right to stop them?
Politics, religion, morality and ANY outsider’s opinions should NOT play a role but those always seem to be things that impose on personal decisions like this. Sure, if you are religious, you would probably never choose this path and it shouldn’t be forced on you but religious beliefs should not be forced because face it, there are as much Atheists in the world as those religious. Same goes for politics and moral; everyone has different opinions on them. Death is natural, thousands die everyday to make room for thousands that come into the world each day. Would you be selfish enough to refuse a loved-one incapable of doing anything because of pain, of a peaceful death just because you can’t bear to lose them? We even euthanize our pets and they don’t have a choice! Unfortunately the law thinks it humane to let someone be a prisoner in their own deathbed.
Of course, if this was made legal everywhere, there has to be strict circumstances and lots of paperwork to lead to it or else people would be abusing it and start bribing doctors to kill the innocent. But then it’s funny because “assisted” suicide already happens in all hospitals. When a terminal patient or one who is in a vegetative state is hooked on life support then the hospital/family decides its too expensive to keep them on, they unhook it and let the patient slowly starve themselves to a silent death. Wouldn’t it be more ethnical to let them die with a little more dignity?
It makes me so angry that when it comes to personal decisions like this, some idiots you don’t even know have to butt in and voice their own beliefs saying why you shouldn’t do it. it’s not your life, it’s not your problem so everyone else should just mind their own business. It’s not as if these are all being forced on you.
