Currently reading: Digital Fortress (Dan Brown)
Good reads:
→ His Dark Materials Trilogy: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass (Philip Pullman) — I was suprised when I found these books at the Young Adults 9-12 section at Chapters, but nevertheless these are still my all-time favorite books.
→ Empress Orchid (Anchee Min)
→ Memoirs Of A Geisha (Arthur Golden)
→ Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China (Jung Chang)
→ 1984 (George Orwell)
→ Winter of Fire (Sherryl Jordan)
→ Misty of Chincoteague (Marguerite Henry) — This book is for younger readers but it use to be my favorite book when I was young… unfortunately I forgot most of it so I’m probably gonnna re-read it now.
→ Angels and Demons (Dan Brown)
→ The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown) — I would read this first before Angels and Demons even though it comes after it or else you’ll be disappointed.
→ A Child Called “It” (Dave Pelzer) — This book made me cry so much. It’s a true story about the author’s childhood being harshly abused by his mother.
→ Falling Leaves (Adeline Yen Mah) — Or get Chinese Cinderella by the same author.
→ The Blessing Stone (Barbara Wood)
→ The Scarlet Letter (Nathaniel Hawthorne) — When I read this in English last year, I hated it but when I come to think of it, it was a really good book.
→ Harry Potter (JK Rowling) — Newly added to my list!
There are so many more books but I forgot most of the titles since I read them ages ago. If I find them, I’ll post it here. Well everyone has their own references so not everyone will enjoy the same books. I prefer suspense and fantasy novels and I really really don’t prefer romance and mystery novels. Anyway, these are books I’m planning to read:
→ The Sevenwaters Trilogy (Juliet Marillier)
→ Life Of Pi (Yann Martel)
→ Angela’s Ashes (Frank McCourt)
→ Lord of the Ring (J.R.R. Tolkien) — I started these books 3 years ago and still haven’t finished because I find them boring but I’m still determined to finish it one day.
→ The Bonesetter’s Daughter (Amy Tan)
→ The Historian ( Elizabeth Kostova)
→ Deception Point (Dan Brown)
→ Second Star to the Right (Deborah Hautzig)
→ Runaway (Evelyn Lau)
→ Stranger Than Fiction (Chuck Palahnuik)
I wish I was still young enough to enjoy books I read when I was young. I’ve read the entire series of Fear Street (remember when those were in?), Goosebumps, The Babysitters Club, The Saddle Club, Sweet Valley High, The Boxcar Children (omg I loved those!!), and most of Sabrina the Teenaged Witch, Nancy Drew and others.
